Answers to the questions merchants ask us most.
Yes. During launch the app is completely free: all five promotion types, the template library, storefront widgets, analytics, and Sidekick support are included. There is no trial period, no discounted-order cap, no feature lock, and no payment method required. Your current plan ("Founding Member — Free") is shown in the app under Settings → Usage & billing.
No. Every promotion is a fully automatic discount. When a cart qualifies, the discount applies itself in the cart and at checkout — no code, no link, no extra click. Discounts are calculated by Shopify Functions, so the cart and checkout always agree.
Promotions apply at three levels — order (tiered discount), product (quantity discount, Buy X Get Y, free gift), and shipping (free shipping) — and different levels combine in the same order. Within the product level, an item never receives two discounts: if two product-level promotions could discount the same item, the one higher in your promotions list (higher priority) applies to that item, and the other still works on items it doesn't contest.
While you build a promotion in the editor, it is saved as a Draft: no discount is created in Shopify and nothing shows on your storefront. A promotion goes live only when you finish the Storefront step (with at least one placement switched on) and click Save & publish. Publishing creates one automatic discount in your Shopify admin, named exactly like the promotion.
Pause a promotion from the promotions list to stop it without losing its setup — its Shopify discount is removed while paused, and resuming creates it again. Delete removes the promotion and its discount permanently. You can also stop everything at once with the master switch in Settings → General, or "Disable all promotions" in Settings → Advanced.
As many as you need — but Shopify allows at most 25 active automatic discounts per store, across all apps combined (not 25 per app). If your store is at the limit, a new promotion can't go live until you pause or delete an existing automatic discount.
Check three things, in order: (1) the promotion is published (not a Draft) with that placement switched on in its Storefront step; (2) the matching Kitvel block is added in the theme editor — Settings → Storefront → Theme integration shows the app embed status and links you there; (3) storefront widgets are enabled globally under Settings → Storefront. For the progress bar and gift picker you can also switch the placement method to "Recommended (Hybrid)" or "Automatic injection (JS)" under Settings → Storefront → Widget placement.
Orders are collected by a background process, not instantly — new orders usually appear within about 30 minutes. Only orders where a Kitvel promotion actually applied are recorded. If an order had no Kitvel discount, it won't appear in Analytics.
Three common causes: (1) the reward or gift item isn't in the cart — shoppers must add it themselves (the gift picker widget on the product page helps); (2) the buy condition isn't met — in Specific products mode, one trigger product must reach the buy quantity on its own, while in Mix & match mode trigger products combine; (3) the built-in price cap blocks it — a reward never goes free if it costs more than the most expensive trigger item in the cart. For gifts, the gift's own value also doesn't count toward the spend threshold.
Yes. Sidekick is built into your Shopify admin — no setup or API keys. Ask Sidekick, for example "Create a buy 2 get 1 free promotion" or "Create a free shipping promotion for orders over $75", approve the request on Sidekick's approval card, and Kitvel Promotions opens with the right page ready. You always review and confirm in the app before anything is saved. Specific English phrasing works best.
The app stores your promotion configuration and settings, and — for Analytics — order-level data: order number, date, amounts, line items, which promotion applied, and the discount amount. It does not request or store your customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses. Details are in our privacy policy.
Email us any time at support@kitvel.com — the
full manual is on the Docs page. To uninstall, remove the app from
Apps in your Shopify admin: Shopify removes the app's automatic discounts,
and the app deletes your stored configuration, access token, and analytics data.
