Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Kitvel ("we", "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Kitvel Promotions app for Shopify. By installing the app, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

When you install and use Kitvel Promotions, we store the following information, tied to your shop's domain:

  • Shop information: your shop's .myshopify.com domain, plus store settings the app displays back to you (timezone and currency, read from your Shopify store).
  • Promotion configuration: the promotion types, thresholds, discount settings, product and variant selections, schedules, messages, widget and app settings you configure, each promotion's status, and the IDs of the automatic discounts created in your store.
  • Order-level analytics data: for orders where a Kitvel promotion applied, we record the order number, order date, currency, subtotal, discount, shipping and total amounts, the purchased items (product and variant titles, quantities, prices), and which promotion applied with its discount amount. We use this to power the in-app Analytics page and the monthly discounted-order count. We also store widget display configuration in a shop metafield in your own store so your theme can render the widgets.
  • Shopify access token: the OAuth access token issued by Shopify when you install the app. It is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and is used only to manage your discounts and widget configuration and to read the order-level data described above.
  • Support emails: if you contact us at support@kitvel.com, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.

We do not request, collect, or store your customers' personal information — no customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses. The app is designed to work with order-level data only, and it does not store any payment card details; the app is free during launch and no billing is processed.

2. How we use the information

We use the collected information solely to:

  • Create, update, pause, resume, and schedule the automatic discounts you configure;
  • Display your storefront widgets according to your settings;
  • Show you per-promotion analytics (which orders each promotion discounted, and the amounts);
  • Provide customer support when you contact us.

3. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is processed by the infrastructure providers we rely on to run the app (Cloudflare, for hosting and data storage), and is shared with Shopify only as required by the Shopify platform APIs.

4. Data retention and deletion

Your configuration, analytics records, and access token are kept only for as long as the app is installed. When you uninstall Kitvel Promotions, Shopify removes the app's automatic discounts from your store, and we delete your stored configuration, access token, analytics records, and usage counts from our servers.

We also respond to Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks in accordance with Shopify's requirements: customers/data_request (we provide the data stored for the shop), customers/redact (we delete customer-related data — as noted above, we store no customer personal data), and shop/redact (we delete all data stored for the shop).

5. Security

Access tokens are stored encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM). All communication between your browser, Shopify, and our servers uses HTTPS. While no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
